When facts mean nothing, the dreck of society rises to the top.

I saw a clip of podcaster Theo Von interviewing Vice President JD Vance. I could never understand how Von has such a short name, but after listening to him, I realized he would forget it if his name were any longer. He told the sitting vice president that he “thinks” that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. I find it hard to believe that he actually can think. Since he is in the bag for Qatar, it is no surprise that he finds Israel guilty of what Hamas is trying to do. Vance was excellent in his response and dispelled the calumny of genocide. But Von is not alone. There are many others on the internet who accuse Israel of genocide. Genocide, by its simple definition, is the intentional wiping out of a people. When 6,000 Hamas murderers and friends entered Israel, they killed anyone they could find. Even Arabs and Thais, whose only sin was to work in the Jewish state, were murdered in cold blood. Hamas' actions on October 7, 2023, fit the exact definition of genocide, as they killed, tortured, and/or kidnapped any Jew they encountered. Since it was against Jews, clowns like Von, the Me Too gang, and the UN could not be much moved by what happened on the killing fields of southern Israel. Von never opened his beak on the mass slaughter in Syria or Sudan because it wasn’t Jews doing the shooting.

By contrast to Hamas, Israel has done everything—including canceling military actions and endangering IDF soldiers—to reduce civilian casualties. If Israel is genociding, then why is the ratio of civilians to combatants the lowest ever for a dense urban field of battle? Better than Fallujah and Mosul. Israel is doing its best to kill Hamas terrorists who hide under hospitals and store their weapons and supplies in mosques and schools. The hatred towards Jews of Von and his garbage ilk is so intense that they paste on Israel claims of random murder, when Israel does everything to prevent civilian loss of life: near daily announcements where to move, SMS messages, phone calls, dud “knock-knock” bombs to clear buildings. Hey Theo, next time you see a Gazan film a building go boom, understand that his camera is perfectly placed because Israel already announced which building is going back to Home Depot.

Not to be undone by the man with few syllables, Simone Biles also shared her lie-filled world view. Athletes and actors never know when to stop, when to just keep their views to themselves, and stay beloved by everyone. Biles had the nerve to attack Riley Gaines, who has fought night and day for the right of women and girls to compete without guys. She had the chutzpah to call Gaines a “sore loser” for losing to the UPenn fake woman swimmer. Gaines has used her position to push through legislation to protect women from guys who are physically stronger and faster. Not for nothing did a very famous woman tennis player, one of the best ever, say that she would not want to face the number 100 male. Men have physiological advantages, and all of the hocus pocus, surgeries, drugs, and lying affirmation cannot make a guy a gal. Period. Science is not with the Olympic champion; she just wants to feel good—and be in the good graces of her crowd.

Many years ago, I knew a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who taught Sports Management. Through some interesting circumstances, China would send its top athletes to Madison to study the subject in order to return home and run sports programs throughout the country. He told me a very unique story that might interest Ms. Biles. He had one of the stars from the Beijing Olympics in his class. He saw a copy of her passport, showing that she was underage when she competed and won her gymnastics gold. She was so popular that Chinese students on campus would stand outside the door in order to peek inside. After some time, a new passport copy appeared, and her birth was conveniently moved back one year, thus making her eligible. How would Miss Biles like to have lost to a very loose underage Chinese athlete—one who should not have been at the Games? Would she just take it on the chin and say that she likes the color of silver more than gold? Or might she file a complaint and demand that the more limber teenager be stripped of her medal, which would be given to her? It’s easy to call someone else a sore loser; see how Miss Biles responds when some guy cleans up her sport.

Our third liar of the week is Palestinian Authority (PA) President for Life, Mahmud Abbas. The president who never leaves always mentions that he was born in the Galilee city of Safed, in northern Israel. He also likes to claim that the Jews have no connection to the land of Israel. We spent this past weekend in Safed. We prayed at a synagogue built at the end of the 15th Century and has been in daily use since. Saturday night, we visited the nearby grave of a Torah sage who lived in the Second Century, during the Roman rule over Judea and the Galilee. On Sunday, my wife and I drove to Rosh Hanikra, the border of Israel and Lebanon along the Mediterranean. Many of the towns in the north of Israel are mentioned in the Talmud and have archeological evidence of their ancient roots. Abbas suggested that the two Jewish Temples were not in Jerusalem but in Yemen. Maybe that’s where his grandmother came from.

The issue of who lived where long ago is secondary to who lives where today. If some Indian tribal leader brought proof positive that Harvard Yard sits on their former land, Harvard would not turn over the location, and nobody would expect them to. While Israel has strong roots in the land, its current ownership has to do with military success against numerous enemies. Abbas, as president of the PA, recently praised the October 7th attacks; maybe Von will invite him to his podcast! The Jews have a connection to the land of Israel that stretches from the days of Abraham to the present. Abbas’s efforts to delegitimize Jewish connections to the land of Israel are one big lie. The Palestinians want the land just as their brethren want Europe and the US. Islam has shown in the past few decades that it is not compatible with Western values or living. Even the pro-Western Gulf countries are run by autocrats and do not have any of the freedoms taken for granted in the West. The West made a massive error in importing large numbers of people who hate Western values and want to make their states Sharia-compliant.

One can lie freely today. There is very little pushback. Rather, one can build an entire universe of lies and never feel a need to answer for them. The truth will always win out; it may take time, but lies always collapse on themselves. To our distinguished liars of the week: look out below!
